Course Overview
The purpose of this Computer-Based
Training (CBT) is to provide standardized terminology and provide students the
knowledge they need as US&R Boat Operators prior to attending any
Instructor-Led Training. The course provides students with standardized
terminology and information that align with the operation of US&R Jon Boats
and Inflatable Rescue Boats (IRB). Prerequisites: Prior to taking this US&R
Boat Operator CBT, students must complete an NFPA 1006 Swiftwater Technician
course. This course content was designed with the understanding that students
completing the CBT will have already learned common water rescue terminology
and already have an understanding of swiftwater rescues. This course builds on
that knowledge and focuses on terminology and knowledge for utilizing boats to
conduct water rescue operations. US&R Task Force Safety Officers are
recommended to review the curriculum, so they understand the terminology and
standardized knowledge that US&R Boat Operators are being taught in this
course. This CBT also serves as an excellent refresher swiftwater rescue team
members are deployed and staged awaiting assignment to perform swiftwater
rescue operations.
