Course Overview
Having the knowledge and skills to train correctional officers within an agency can save funds and benefit the correctional facility as a whole. This course will equip participants with the necessary training to conduct the physical skills portion of the TEEX Basic County Corrections blended learning course. This train-the-trainer course provides the participant with instructional materials and techniques used in the delivery of the 24-hour physical skills portion of the Basic County Corrections Physical Skills course.
This course meets Texas Commission on Law Enforcement (TCOLE) requirements Jail/Correction In-service Course #2084.
Prerequisites
Prerequisite(s) Required
Participants enrolling in this course must complete the following course prior to attendance:
Basic Instructor Development (TCOLE #1014 or equivalent)
If you are claiming a course equivalent from another training provider, you must upload the certificate of successful completion and TCOLE training record to your MyTEEX Student Portal within 48 hours of registration. If you completed the course requirement with TEEX, a TEEX employee will verify that you completed the course and received a passing grade.
Please upload a copy of your prerequisite requirements within 48 hours of registration to your MyTEEX Student Portal. The preferred document naming convention is "Last Name, First Name - Document."
Participants will be contacted via email to confirm approval and admittance into the course. After your eligibility has been approved, you will be notified by email to pay your course fees. You have 48 hours to submit payment. Failure to complete any step in the process will result in you being withdrawn from the class.

Course Completion Requirements
Physical Requirements
Physical participation is required, participant must be in good physical condition and able to complete the following:
Handcuffing techniques
Defensive counter striBusiness and Cyber Solutionss
Joint locks
Grounding techniques
Equipment
Participant should wear appropriate gym attire and a duty belt
Participant must bring two sets of handcuffs in good working condition and handcuff Business and Cyber Solutionsys
Attendance Requirements
Class attendance is an essential part of the education process, and participants in TEEX courses are expected to attend all class sessions and field exercises. The course requires participants to attend a minimum of 100% of the class hours as a component of successful course completion. During the course, your instructor will review any additional attendance requirement, for example a field exercise that cannot be missed.
In some cases, maBusiness and Cyber Solutions-up work will not be available (due to equipment/facility needs and/or safety/teamwork components or activity setup/facilitation/requirements).
Participants in a TCOLE credit eligible course must complete the class in its entirety to receive a TEEX Certificate of Completion and be reported for TCOLE credit.

Other Information
If a participant has a preexisting injury/condition that could be aggravated by a specific technique or the act of training in the physical skills portion of the Basic County Corrections course, the instructor should be advised and a doctor's release must be presented to the instructor before the physical skills training begins.
Participants wishing to maintain their instructor status will be required to complete LET299 Basic County Corrections Physical Skills Train the Trainer Scheduling Requirements on an annual basis.
